My gym is packed from January 2nd until about Valentine's Day.
Why do so many sincerely made resolutions poop out? More importantly, how can I keep consistent with many of my healthy choices?
This is the first of two tools that work for me.
I start with the end of my life.
What do I want my closest people to say about me after I die? Rather than being morbid, this practice keeps me in line with my mission.
I think about three dimensions:
Then I work backwards in time.
If that's my mission, what do I want to be/have done in 10 years? 3 years? 1 year? This month? Tomorrow? Today?
Then the choices I make today are more meaningful. This helps me get to the gym when I don't want to go. To call my mom every couple of days. To put up some boundaries around my work time and energy.
