Holiday Cheer

Holiday Cheer

Here’s a shocker: Christmas is less than a week from today! And Hanukkah starts Sunday.

Christmas is an amalgam of shopping, Jesus’ birth, and a jolly man in a red suit. And recently an Elf on a Shelf (who frankly scares me).

So where’d the jolly man come from? The origin story nearest and dearest to my heart is Santa’s history in Holland. St. Nicholas (aka “Saint Nick”) helped the poor in Christ’s name. He put clementines, chocolate and sometimes coins in the wooden shoes poor families placed outside their doors. When I was a kid, our version was Droste chocolate oranges.

Being of service to others is a spiritual principle of every religion and spiritual practice. It’s a time of year where we all become a little bit kinder, softer and more thoughtful. I wish this energy permeates all year long. It’s a time of magic and surprisingly heartfelt connections.

Simultaneously, this time of year can also prove to be a stressful time. Travel, wrapping gifts, making donations, buying and decorating a tree, climbing on ladders to hang outdoor lights...do I need to go on? I’ve found the best thing you can do to beat the holiday blues is simply embrace the chaos. I’m also all about making your life easier. Our mini muffins are perfect for all the kids, picky eaters, secret snackers and discerning aunts this year. It’s a great way to make sure everyone is eating healthy, getting their daily veggies and staying away from the hangry zone (as that ain’t pretty). I actually keep a bunch of these in my glove compartment. As a mom and entrepreneur (and daughter, wife, friend and human being) I’m often I’m running around. Sometimes it’s 3pm by the time I get something in my belly! This helps me manage my hunger on the craziest of days.

Here’s to bringing some magic to your home this holiday season by enjoying 15% off the entire site. Simply use code MAGIC at check-out. Please note that tomorrow (December 19) is our last day to ship to arrive in time for Christmas.

Wishing you the most magical holiday season ever.
